ONE OF COUNTY WEXFORD’S BIGGEST EMPLOYERS IS SOLD

The parent company of Lake Region in New Ross has been bought for an estimated one billion dollars.

Lake Region has been operating in New Ross for the past twenty years and manufactures surgical instruments and medical devices

It currenlty employs eight hundred people at Butlersland making it one of the counties biggest employers.

Yesterday its main rival in the business in the US the Accelent Corporation bought the parent company Lake Region Medical.

Its not thought this will have any impact on the New Ross facility although its not known if a substantial extension planned for the New Ross site will now go ahead.

Lake Region was a privatley run family business since it was founded in 1947 by Joe Fleischhacker and first came to New Ross in the 1990s.
