LOWRY SENT FORWARD FOR TRIAL OVER ALLEGED INCORRECT TAX RETURNS

Independent TD Michael Lowry is being sent forward for trial on charges he allegedly filed incorrect tax returns.

The former Fine Gael Minister was asked to attend Thurles District Court in person today where the book of evidence was served.

He is charged with 3 counts of knowingly filing incorrect tax returns on October 31st, 2003 and 1 count of knowingly filing an incorrect tax return on August 3rd, 2007.

He’s been sent forward for trial at the next session of Nenagh Circuit Court.

The Tipperary North TD wasn’t called on to speak at today’s 5 minute long hearing, but nodded when advised by the judge that he had 14 days to furnish details of any alibi evidence he intended to rely on during his trial.
