SPORT: 7 RACE CARD IN WEXFORD TONIGHT

Watering of the racetrack in Wexford has been ongoing for the past few days in advance of this evening’s race meeting.

It’s a jumps event and at the last National Hunt meeting in Clonmel on Friday five horses were killed during the course of the races.

The Turf Club is investigating the matter and hard ground is understood to have been a contributory cause of the deaths.

Davidstown trainer Paul Nolan has four horses running in Wexford this evening.

He says the dry ground has a bearing on the race as more pressure is placed on the horses but he says they are constantly watering the Wexford track and it should be safe for this evening’s racing.

They’re off and running from 6pm.
