BURTON SAYS MORE CAN BE DONE TO IMPROVE TOURISM IN CO. WEXFORD

The Tánaiste says more can be done to improve the hospitality and tourism sectors in County Wexford.

Joan Burton says the unemployment figures for the county have seen an improvement over the past year however she says they’re not where they should be yet.

The Labour leader says while tourism is an important employer in County Wexford the agri food industry is also seeing a boost in revenue – creating more jobs.

Minister Burton says the reduced VAT rate is helping the tourism sector.

She says the focus has to be on young people in the South East getting the best level of training, educational qualification and experience that is appropriate to them.
