SPORT: WEXFORD’S BERTRAM ALLEN MISSES OLYMPICS SPOT BUT THROUGH TO INDIVIDUAL SEMI FINAL

At the World Equestrian Games in Normandy on Thursday, Ireland came agonisingly close to grabbing one of the qualification places on offer for the Rio Olympic Games,

They finished seventh overall just one place off Sweden, who booked the last ticket on offer to the Rio 2016.

Wexford’s Bertram Allen knocked a single fence with his mare Molly Malone.

However, the teenager has made it through to Saturday’s semi final of the Individual competition, after which the top four will battle for World Championship medals on Sunday.
