SPORT: LAOIS OVERCOME WEXFORD IN WALSH CUP

Wexford were beaten by Laois yesterday in the Walsh Cup.

It’s the first time in four years Laois have got the better of the Model County in a competitive fixture.

It ended Laois 4-18 Wexford 1-19 in Abbeyleix.

Laois have now secured a semi-final meeting with Dublin next Sunday.

Wexford’s next competitive outing is on February 15th in Wexford against Antrim in their opening Division 1B league encounter.

Meanwhile Andrew Shore went to England this weekend to appeal his 48 week suspension – following his participation in a game with Birmingham side Roger Casements – but as of yet no decision has been made on his future.
