SEVERAL HUNDRED ARRESTED AFTER PROTESTS OUTSIDE ECB’S NEW HQ IN FRANKFURT
350 people have been arrested in clashes between protesters and police outside the ECB’s new headquarters in Frankfurt.
Tear gas and water cannon have been used to disperse demonstrators – who are marking the opening of the bank’s new 1.3 billion euro skyscraper.
Roads have been blocked, cars have been set on fire – and several police officers have been injured.
ECB Chief Mario Draghi has thanked the authorities for their efforts to end the disturbances.
