MICHAEL SHEEHAN ELECTED CHAIRMAN OF NEW ROSS MUNICIPAL AUTHORITY
The newly elected chairman of the New Ross District Municipal Authority is calling for appropriate commemerations of the 1916 Rising.
Michael Sheehan said this would be a priorty of his following his election yesterday.
During his term in office celebrations to mark the centenary of the Rising will take place.
Michael Sheehan says he would like to see a sculpture, piece of art or a statue made in honour of Michael O’Hanrahan who was born in New Ross, participated in the uprising and was subsequently executed.
