FIRST WOMAN IN CO. WEXFORD DECLARES CANDIDATURE FOR GENERAL ELECTION

The first Wexford woman has declared her candidature for the upcoming general election.

She is Caroline Foxe, Postmistress in Foulksmills, and will run as a post office community based candidate.

This year a new group – Women for Election – has been formed to encourage female candidates in what will be the first election where gender quotas will operate.

Caroline Foxe is one of a number of post office candidates standing around the country.

She has served seven years as a postmistress and says she is acutely aware of what’s happening in local communities.
