Councillor Wants State Pension Equality Reforms

A Fianna Fail Councillor has welcomed the Dail vote during the week where the government was defeated by a motion from his own party on pension equality. Michael Sheehan from New Ross says he’s been leading a campaign to highlight the injustices of changes previously made by the government which raised the bar for people to qualify for the full state pension. And he says the anomaly where people who retire at 65 must sign on the dole for a year before being eligible for the State pension must be scrapped.
