Banks Obtain Judgment Against Wexford Businessmen Over 18 Million Euro Debt

BANKS OBTAIN JUDGMENT AGAINST WEXFORD BUSINESSMEN OVER 18 MILLION EURO DEBT

A bank has obtained judgment for almost 18 million euro against two County Wexford businessmen.

The move by bank of Scotland relates to unpaid loans.

There was no appearance by or on behalf of Declan Devereux from Grange, Broadway, and William Devereux from Walshestown, Piercestown, when the Bank of Scotland’s proceedings came before the Commercial court on Sunday.

Mr Justice Peter Kelly said he was satisfied the procedings had been served on both men and he also noted the court was told they had indicated they would not be opposing the bank’s application.

A judgment of over 17 million 950-thousand euro was then entered against each of the men by the judge.

The court was told the debts arose as a result of facilities provided on dates from 2007.

They included the purchase of a site at Gorey Retail Park and the construction of two units on that site.

One of the facilities also related to loans provided to Devereux Enterprises ltd.
