TDs have called for a pay rise for county councillors.
Currently councillors get a wage of around €17,000 a year plus expenses.
There’s plans to raise that by as much as €8,000 a year.
Junior Minister at the Department of Local Government and Carlow/Kilkenny TD John Paul Phelan says the current rates are not enough.
