ENNISCORTHY REMAINS THE WORST FOR ROAD ACCIDENTS IN THE COUNTRY

Enniscorthy is Ireland’s black spot town when it comes to road accidents.

The news is revealed in data maintained by the Road Safety Authority and published in today’s Irish Times.

Enniscorthy has had consistently the highest rate of road accidents per head of population than any other town in the country.

It has maintained the country’s black spot town for road accidents for a number of years now.

Both the major routes of the N11 and the N30 run into the town with the planned construction of the town’s bypass not yet underway.

According to the RSA data today the N25 Rosslare to Cork road has the highest number accidents followed by the N21 Limerick to Tralee road and in third place is the N11 Wexford to Dublin road.

Summertime is the most dangerous on the roads with the hours between 8pm and 10pm at weekends the most dangerous period.

Motorway is by far the safest for road travel with a collision on a rural road three times more likely.
