Further Bad Weather Forecast For County Wexford

FURTHER BAD WEATHER FORECAST FOR COUNTY WEXFORD

The public is being advised to stay away from harbours and rivers in County Wexford this evening as strong winds and rain are forecast.

The National Coordination Group has issued a warning about possible flooding of the River Barrow, the Blackwater, the Nore and the Slaney, and also the River Shannon.

Met Eireann is forecasting more heavy rain from tonight and it’s also warning that a succession of storms will hit the country between Tuesday and Friday next week.

Brian Kenny from the Department of the Environment says people should stay safe and be prepared.

“All of the local authorities and all of the response agencies in any of these areas which we expect may be prone to flooding on the highest of alert and they’re…coordinating with each other and with the ESB who…manage some of these rivers” he said.

“In terms of actual response as well we have the army on standby, we have Civil Defence on standby – so any resources which need to be brought to bear will be brought to bear” he added.
