IRELAND’S GAS EMISSIONS WILL GO UP THANKS TO FOSSIL FUEL USAGE

The Environmental Protection Agency is predicting that Ireland’s greenhouse gas emissions will go up instead of down in the coming years.

It says at best, we’ll only manage a 1% reduction compared to an EU target of a 20% decrease by 2020.

Fossil fuels such as coal and peat are expected to be significant contributors, while emissions from the agriculture and transport sectors are expected to increase.
