Man Questioned Over Longford Helicopter Crash Released Without Charge

MAN QUESTIONED OVER LONGFORD HELICOPTER CRASH RELEASED WITHOUT CHARGE

Investigations are continuing into a helicopter crash in Longford on Wednesday.

Last night, gardaí arrested the pilot of the helicopter – a man in his 60s from the UK – at Dublin Airport.

He has since been released from Longford garda station without charge and a file is being prepared for the DPP.

The helicopter has now been removed from the scene at the Rustic Inn in Abbeyshrule.

Mary Mullins – news editor with Shannonside Radio – has the latest.

“I know several investigations are ongoing so hopefully at some point soon we will actually know what did happen” she said,

“For many people who were watching it and for the thousands of people who have seen it online, it seems quite bizarre…but we don’t know what happened there”.

“That man was arrested and gardaí have questioned him and released him again – and are preparing a file now which will be sent to the DPP” she added.
