Met Eireann Issues Weather Warning For Wexford

MET EIREANN ISSUES WEATHER WARNING FOR WEXFORD

Met Eireann is warning that another Atlantic storm depression will hit parts of the country later today with further flooding expected.

An Orange status weather alert has been issued for counties along the south and east coasts, with a Yellow warning in most other counties.

The latest storm force conditions come as clean up operations continue in New Ross after the severe weather on Sunday and Monday.

Deirdre Lowe from Met Eireann says Cork and Wexford look set to be the worst affected by the strong winds, heavy rain and high tides.

“We have an Orange alert out for Cork and Wexford, we’re expecting winds to gust as high as 155 km/h” she said.

“With the winds coming in off the sea and the high tides, and the heavy rain all occurring at the same time there is the risk of some further flooding – and it is very likely” she added.

Meanwhile the Wexford Borough Council is warning of possible flooding along Wexford Town’s quayfront.

Motorists are being advised not to leave their car along the quayfront overnight.

High tide in Wexford town tonight is at 10 pm tonight and again tomorrow morning at 10.30am.
