Lee Hynes

Lee has been involved in radio since the age of 17, cutting his teeth in the pirate radio scene before turning his passion for music into a career. A proud Wexford Town native, he also built up years of experience DJ’ing in clubs, discos and parties, where his love for entertaining really took shape.

In 2006, Lee got the opportunity to join the South East Radio team. He began his journey behind the scenes as a sound engineer, before making the move to broadcasting and becoming a familiar voice on the lunchtime airwaves.

Performing has always been in Lee’s blood. From a young age, he has been heavily involved in local theatre, including Tops of the Town, Oyster Lane Theatre Group, Wexford Drama Group—where he picked up numerous festival awards for his roles—and the Wexford Pantomime Society, where he currently serves as Chairperson.

Away from the mic and the stage, Lee is a proud campanologist—in other words, a bell ringer at Rowe Street Church. He’s also a passionate sports fan, following Wexford GAA, Leinster and Irish Rugby, Wexford FC, and—by his own admission, for his sins—Manchester United.

A true glass-half-full person, Lee lives by the motto: “What’s for you won’t pass you.” (Phil Hynes)

It’s been real. It’s been emotional.
