Ireland In Contention For More Medals In Rio Today

It’s Day 8 of the Paralympics with a number of potential medal contenders in action.

After last nights bronze medal in the final of the 100 metre breaststroke, Ellen Keane turns her attention to the 100 metre butterfly this afternoon.

Nicole Turner will be aiming for a fifth final appearance of the games when she goes in the heats of the 100 metre breaststroke.

There’s final action just after 2pm when Orla Barry competes in the F57 discus final, and Patrick O’Leary races in the canoeing 200 metre final.

At 3.45pm Paul Keogan is in the heats of the 400 metres. At 4.20pm cyclist Ciara Staunton races in the H2-4 Road Race.

Helen Kearney is in action in the equestrian Grade 1A Individual Championship at 4.45pm. Declan Slevin cycles in the H3 road race at 6.20pm. And then at 9.40pm Niamh McCarthy is in the F41 Discus final.
