Teenagers Arrested After Sailing Stolen Boat To Wexford

TEENAGERS ARRESTED AFTER SAILING STOLEN BOAT TO WEXFORD

Three teenagers have been arrested after taking a luxury motor cruiser from it’s moorings in Dun Laoghaire.

They sailed the forty foot boat down the east coast as far as Wexford yesterday before grounding it on the return journey at Greystones.

The drama began at 5.30am yesterday morning when three teenagers, two boys and a girl, who are believed to be aged 16 and 17 took the boat and began travelling down the east coast.

The owners discovered the boat missing and notified the gardai, marinas and boat clubs.

The three seafarers were spotted at 1.30pm near Greystones after travelling to Wexford and back.

Eyewitness reports say they were driving the boat in an extremely reckless manner.

The Garda Air Support Unit was dispatched where they engaged in a cat and mouse game with them.

The vessel then ran aground near South Beach in Greystones shortly after 3pm and the three ran through the fields in escape.

However Gardai on the ground, aided by the Air Support Unit, tracked them down a short time later where all three were taken to Bray Garda Station.
