TWO MEN JAILED FOR MURDERING LIMERICK BUSINESSMAN ROY COLLINS

Two men have been jailed for life for murdering Limerick businessman Roy Collins.

Wayne Dundon of Lenihan Avenue and his co-accused Nathan Killeen of Hyde Road, were convicted by the non-jury Special Criminal Court.

Steve Collins has described Roy’s killers as ‘cowardly evil men devoid of any semblance of mercy and humanity’.

He broke down in tears as he told the court in a victim impact statement that his son paid the ultimate price for standing up to the wrath of these people.

The 35 year old was killed by a single shot to the chest fired by a gunman who entered the Coincastle amusements at around midday on April 9th 2009.

It was a revenge attack ordered by Wayne Dundon who was in prison because Roy’s father Steve had testified against him in an earlier trial.

Nathan Killeen was described as the getaway driver and another man James Dillon fired the fatal shot.

The Collins family had to leave Ireland two years ago for their own safety – now two members of the gang they feared are beginning life sentences for murder.
