New car registrations in Wexford for October 2025 have shown a mixed picture, with overall numbers increasing slightly compared to the same month last year. According to the latest data from the Society of the Irish Motor Industry (SIMI), Wexford recorded a modest 2.54% increase in new car registrations, with a total of 2,951 vehicles registered. This marks a positive shift from last year’s figure of 2,878 cars, despite a national decline in new car registrations for the month.
However, the standout statistic for Wexford’s car market is the significant rise in electric vehicle (EV) sales. Wexford saw a remarkable 34.93% jump in new EV registrations, with 564 electric cars registered in October 2025, up from 418 in the same month last year. This growth reflects the national trend, where electric vehicle sales continue to rise, driven by a combination of government incentives and changing consumer attitudes toward sustainability.
While new car registrations overall have seen a dip across Ireland, Wexford’s performance in the electric vehicle sector is notable. The county accounted for 2.44% of the total national EV registrations for 2025, a strong showing given its size.
In addition to the growth in EVs, Wexford has also seen a 10% increase in Light Commercial Vehicle (LCV) registrations, reflecting a national trend in the commercial vehicle sector. This is a positive sign for local businesses and the broader economy, as LCVs play a crucial role in transporting goods and services.
