Wexford TD Slams The Approval Of The Mercursor Trade Deal

European Union ambassadors have approved the EU-Mercosur trade deal, despite opposition from Ireland, France, Poland, Austria and Hungary, with Belgium abstaining.

The agreement, which creates the world’s largest free-trade area, will link two of the biggest global markets.

While Italy and other EU nations supported the deal, Ireland’s rejection, alongside concerns from environmental groups and farmers, sparked controversy.

the European Commission assures that bans on hormone-treated and antibiotic-laced products will remain in place, with enhanced inspections at EU entry points.

However, speaking to south east radio news Wexford TD George Lawlor said its a dark day for Irish Farmers
