In a thrilling performance at Naas last Friday, Enniscorthy trainer Colin Bowe’s The Great Nudie proved too strong for her rivals, securing a dominant 12-length victory in the mares’ beginners chase. The six-year-old mare, who was making just her second start over fences, led from the front and jumped impeccably under the guidance of fellow Wexfordman Sean Flanagan.
The pair were in fine form, with The Great Nudie returning as the 100-30 second favourite. This impressive win marks another significant achievement for the Wexford-based training duo.

Meanwhile, in Dundalk, New Ross jockey Donagh O’Connor enjoyed a fantastic day, notching up a double at the Louth track. The first win came with Blanc De Blanc, an American-bred debutante trained by Robson Aguiar. Despite a stewards’ inquiry, the 9-4 second favourite held onto victory in the 1m fillies’ maiden, narrowly defeating Astronomically, trained by Donnacha O’Brien. O’Connor’s second win of the day came when he guided Beat The Devil to a comfortable victory in the mile handicap. Trained by Patrick Magee from Shercock, Co. Cavan, the 100-30 favourite triumphed by four lengths, shedding his maiden tag in style.
