Meals On Wheels In Kilmore Quay Make Appeal For Volunteers

The Stella Maris Centre in Kilmore Quay are appealing for volunteers as the vital Meals on Wheels service to elderly and vulnerable residents in the area has grown in recent months.

Delivering up to 27 meals a day, amounting to over 6,000 meals per year, the service not only provides nutritious meals but also helps reduce isolation by giving residents a daily visit from one of their volunteer drivers.

Over the past year, the demand for the service has increased significantly and with rising costs in food, insurance and other operational expenses and they are now seeking help from the local community.

They are in need of more volunteers, donations and even a cook to help keep the service running smoothly.

Volunteers are at the heart of the service.

The drivers are not only delivering meals but are also providing a much-needed social connection for many who may not see anyone else during the day.

If you are interested in helping, whether by volunteering your time, making a donation, or assisting with cooking, please contact the Stella Maris Centre on 053 91 29922
