Ciara Breen is a talented young singer from Wexford, now studying at the Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance in London under renowned vocal coach Mary Wiegold. Her powerful performance of O Holy Night at the Danescastle carol service recently left audiences spellbound.
Ciara’s musical journey began at just seven years of age with the Danescastle Music Group, where she started singing and playing the flute. Deeply rooted in traditional Irish music, she has competed at Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann, Scór and Siansa, performing as a soloist and as part of ballad groups and Grúpa Ceoil. She later began classical vocal training at The Kiltra School of Music with Angela Mahon and was a member of The Little Sea Musical Society.
In 2022, Ciara continued her studies at The Purcell School for Young Musicians in London, training in singing, guitar, music theory and music technology, and singing with the Purcell Chamber Choir. Her performances include Holst’s The Planets at the Queen Elizabeth Hall, Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9 at Southwark Cathedral, and Mozart’s concert aria “Ch’io mi scordi di te?” at St Albans Cathedral. She has also featured on a song selected for the Commonwealth Youth Awards at St James’s Palace.
Now an active presence on the folk scene, Ciara has appeared as a guest artist at Camden Stewart’s concert in St John the Evangelist, performed at the Phil Murphy Weekend, and held her first solo concert at Colfer’s Pub alongside well-known traditional musicians. With a strong grounding in both classical and traditional music, Ciara continues to build an exciting career at home and abroad.
