Residents in Craanford and Gorey are being warned about fraudsters posing as Wexford County Council staff.
The council has issued a public alert after reports of individuals calling to homes in the area yesterday.
They wish to remind the public that the County Council does not carry out private works, nor do staff collect cash door-to-door.
If someone claims to be from the council, residents are urged not to let them into their homes and to ask for official identification.
To verify a caller’s identity, they can contact the council directly at 053 919 6000.
The Gardaí are also advising anyone who feels unsafe or suspects fraud to contact them immediately.
