Wexford Town is set to host the inaugural Wextrad Weekend from Thursday, January 29th to Monday, February 2nd, 2026, coinciding with the St. Brigid’s bank holiday weekend. This new festival will celebrate Irish culture with a dynamic mix of concerts, performances and special events spread throughout the town.
The event is supported by Wexford County Council, as a legacy of the Fleadh, alongside key sponsors including Wexford Credit Union, Wexford Town Vintners, The Talbot Hotel and Crown Live.
The festival will kick off with a Wexford Mummers Ball on Thursday, January 29th, which will showcase local mummers’ groups and feature a lively House Ceili Band. This traditional event promises a distinctive cultural experience for all attendees.
Over the course of the weekend, a range of activities will take place across the town, including performances and workshops run by local and national arts organizations like the National Opera House, Wexford Arts Centre and Eclectic Avenue.
Comhaltas Ceoltoiri Eireann will also host a series of events, including music workshops with acclaimed national musicians, youth and family-focused activities and a traditional set dancing ceili with The Legacy Ceili Band.
In addition to these cultural events, the Smithwick’s Trad Trail will see over 20 pubs and hotels in Wexford Town come alive with Irish traditional music, ballads and live performances from Friday, January 30th to Monday, February 2nd.
