One Day, Many Voices celebrates diversity across Irish radio

Last week South East Radio took part in a special national broadcasting initiative celebrating diversity, inclusion and the many different voices within our communities.

One Day, Many Voices took place on Thursday, September 24th, with 23 independent radio stations across Ireland putting people and experiences that may not always be heard on air at the centre of their programming.

The initiative was developed by Learning Waves and supported through Coimisiún na Meán’s Sound & Vision scheme, funded through the Television Licence Fee.

South East Radio’s contributions include stories from people across Wexford, including autistic entrepreneur and carer Jay Gilbert, Joseph McGoldrick, who has spoken about achieving independent living, personal trainer Kacper Czerpak, and Phillip Jordan, who lives with Down Syndrome.

Listeners can also hear from Emer Mulhall, who is blind and speaks about her guide dog Hope and the technology she relies on, as well as Bernard Finnigan, Anne and a secondary school student sharing her experience of growing up alongside people from different cultures and backgrounds.
