Wexford businesses urged to flush out competition as Ireland searches for its best public toilet

Businesses across Wexford are being encouraged to enter their facilities into a national search to find Ireland’s next “SuperLoo”.

Drainage company Dyno-Rod has relaunched its nationwide competition to identify the best publicly accessible toilets in the country, with entries now open to cafés, hotels, shops, garages, libraries, cinemas and other businesses.

The initiative, originally launched in 1992 and last won by the Slieve Russell Hotel in Cavan, is returning more than three decades later to crown a new national winner.

Dyno-Rod says the competition is not about luxury or high-end facilities, but about recognising “character, cleanliness, accessibility and overall customer experience” in everyday public restrooms.

Businesses entering the competition will be judged on a range of criteria including cleanliness, comfort, accessibility, hygiene standards, ventilation, facilities provided and overall customer experience. Even practical details such as toilet paper quality and holder positioning will be taken into account.

Founder Peter Crowley said the aim of the competition is to highlight businesses that take genuine pride in maintaining high standards for customers.

“From decades of travelling the country, we know that toilets are a key part of the customer experience,” he said. “SuperLoo celebrates businesses that maintain clean, accessible and well-kept facilities that people rely on every day.”

Following adjudication, ten finalists will be shortlisted before a public vote determines the overall winner of the 2026 SuperLoo title.

Businesses can nominate their facilities at superloo.ie, with applications closing on Friday 17 July 2026.
