Jessie Buckley has expressed her excitement about giving a voice to the Bride of Frankenstein in her new film The Bride!, which premiered in London on Thursday.
The film, directed by Maggie Gyllenhaal, reimagines the 1935 classic The Bride of Frankenstein, with Buckley playing the revived woman alongside Christian Bale as Frankenstein's Monster.
Buckley was drawn to the idea of exploring what the Bride might say, having been silent in the original film and relished the opportunity to bring her character to life.
Buckley, who recently won a BAFTA for her role in Hamnet, also praised Gyllenhaal’s efforts to bring new voices and perspectives to filmmaking.
The Bride! opens in cinemas on March 6th, starring Buckley, Bale and a supporting cast including Penélope Cruz and Peter Sarsgaard.
