Cassagh's Denny Bookle Wins World Masters Title in Morocco

Huge congratulations to Wexford's Denny Bookle who has been crowned a World Masters champion at the IEPF World Eight-Ball Pool Championships in Morocco.

The young pool player from the Cassagh area has added another major international title to an already impressive list of achievements, winning the World Masters title in Marrakech.

Denny is representing Ireland at the IEPF World Eight-Ball Pool Championships which are taking place at the Aqua Mirage Resort in Marrakech.

The championships feature players from around the world competing across a wide range of categories, including singles, doubles, team and Masters events.

Denny's latest success adds to a remarkable progression in the sport.

His international breakthrough came as a teenager. In 2023, at just 14, Denny helped Ireland's Under-18 team reach the European Championship semi-finals in Malta, winning 13 of his 18 matches in the team competition. He also reached the latter stages of the singles competition.

In March 2024, he played a crucial role in Ireland's European Under-18 championship victory, winning the deciding frame against England to secure the title for Ireland.

Just weeks later, Denny was crowned All-Ireland Under-18 champion, beating Cillian Smyth 6–3 in the final.

He has continued to compete successfully at national and international level, with his latest achievement in Morocco taking him to the top of the World Masters competition.

Denny has strong links to the Cassagh and New Ross area and developed his game playing locally.

He began honing his skills in Paul Morrissey's Bar in Cassagh before progressing on the snooker tables at the Workmen's Club in New Ross.

The Bannow/Rathangan Pool League also played an important role in his development, giving the young player the opportunity to compete against older and more experienced players. His family previously credited the late Pat Corcoran with recognising Denny's potential and helping him develop his game.

Denny's latest World Masters success is another major milestone for the young Wexford player — and another reason for the local pool community to celebrate his achievements on the international stage.
