The IRFU have confirmed they've opened talks with Ireland coach Joe Schmidt about an extension to his current contract. Cheif Executive Philip Browne says they're in discussions and they will come to "some sort of conclusion" in the next few months. The former Leinster coach's contract runs out at the end of next season but after two successful Six Nations campaigns they've moved to secure his future until just after the World cup in 2019.
