d'arcy announces retirement
Wexford's Gordon D'Arcy has confirmed he will retire at the end of October. The Leinster star has won 81 Ireland caps, scoring seven tries, while he also toured with the British and Irish Lions to New Zealand in 2005 and South Africa four years later. D'Arcy, who's from Ferns, helped Ireland win a Six Nations Grand Slam in 2009 and the Six Nations title last season. The centre, who's played 260 times for his province winning 3 European titles, has also backed the current coaching ticket of Matt O'Connor and Leo Cullen. The former Lion says the team is in the "best possible hands".
