Captain Steven Gerrard rescued Liverpool in their first Champions League game in five years last night. He scored a 93rd minute penalty in their 2-1 win over Bulgarian team Ludogerets at Anfield. All of the goals came in the last 12 or so minutes, including the visitors equalising right on the 90 minute mark. Meanwhile Arsenal suffered their first defeat since April in losing 2-0 in Germany against Borussia Dortmund last night. Danny Welbeck led the attack for the Londoners, and was guilty of wasting their best chance.
