win for one wexford boxer but another bows out
There was disappointment for Wexford boxer Adam at the European Championships in Bulgaria last night. The London Olympian lost his quarter-final in the welterweight division yesterday evening. However there was betterNews for fellow Wexford man Dean Walsh. He's guaranteed at least a bronze medal after beating his opponent in the light welterweight division. Joe Ward and Michael Conlan are also through to the semi-finals after wins yesterday. All three have also secured a place at this year's World Championships in Qatar, which will also double as an Olympic qualifier. While Nolan will also qualify if his opponent yesterday gets to the decider as the semi-finalists and quarter-finalists who lose to the eventual finalists all qualify. Thursday is a rest day at the European Championships while the semi-finals and finals will be decided on Friday and Saturday.
