14% Incease In People On Live Register In Wexford Last Month

The number of jobseekers in Wexford rose by almost 1,000 last month.

The seasonally adjusted Live Register national total for July was 174,500 people, up by 1,200 from June.

7,927 people signed on in Wexford last month, up from 6,982 the month previous representing a 14 per cent rise in just 30 days.

Overall the number on the register here was up 7.2 per cent in the 12 months to July.

Last month saw the temporary shutdown of medical devices company Integer in New Ross which is one of the largest employers in the county.

Workers returned to the plant yesterday after the shock two week halt in operations.

Wexford was the county that saw the largest increase between July 2025 and last month while there were 6.2 per cent more people signing on in Longford during the same time period.

The largest decreases were in Monaghan (-4.1%) and Clare (-4.0%).

Nationally, the 25-34 years age group made up the largest number of those on the Live Register in July at 47,045 people or 24.5% of the total.

The CSO also says there were 11,488 people benefitting from the EU's Temporary Protection Directive fleeing the war in Ukraine included in the Live Register figures last month, which was 260 fewer people than June 2026.
