In a major development for Enniscorthy, Councillor Jackser Owens has confirmed that over 140 new homes will be built in the town, providing a much-needed boost to housing in the area. Speaking on Morning Mix Cllr Owens outlined plans for a significant housing project on the east side of the town, specifically in St. Senan’s parish. The development will see the construction of 50 homes which will include 15 affordable homes and 35 social houses. This project also aims to bring a host of community amenities, including a community centre, skateboard park, playground, car park and a new road linking the area to Vinegar Hill. The Enniscorthy Councillor also confirmed that 95 additional homes will be built in the Lower area of the town. Speaking about the project, Cllr Owens expressed his enthusiasm, noting, “This is fantastic news for the town and for the people of St. Senan’s parish, who have long felt forgotten. We’re looking at a development that will include over 145 homes, which is unprecedented in this area.” The ambitious project is expected to be completed by 2027, with construction scheduled to begin in the coming months. Owens confirmed that local residents will greatly benefit from the development, both through the provision of homes and the community-focused amenities, which will serve as a hub for social activities in the area. “This project is just the beginning,” Owens added. “We are working hard to make sure that there is adequate housing for all of the people in this community especially those who have been waiting far too long for a home.”
