Ireland Reads is a national celebration of reading. Throughout February and especially on Ireland Reads Day, February 28th everyone is encouraged to Get Lost in a Good Book. Public libraries and organisations promoting reading, literacy and the arts invite people of all ages to enjoy the simple pleasure of reading.
Wexford Libraries are joining the nationwide Ireland Reads campaign, encouraging everyone to read throughout February in the lead‑up to Saturday, February 28th.
Wexford Town Library is using Story Sacks in local primary schools with the aim of developing family literacy and attracting parents and children who might not ordinarily avail of its services.
As well as being used by parents, during outreach sessions facilitated by librarians at local primary schools, Story Sacks can also be borrowed from the library. Wexford Town Public Library has engaged with 120 children in this setting so far and plans to bring its Story Sacks back into local primary schools in March.
