A Call For Accountability As Rejuvenate Treatment Rooms Devastated by Flooding

As the cleanup begins following Storm Chandra the full scale of the damage to businesses in Enniscorthy is becoming clear.

One business owner, Rachel O’Gorman, manager of Rejuvenate Treatment Rooms at the Riverside Park Hotel, shared the devastating impact of the flooding

“We went from very little water to waist-high flooding in the space of an hour,” she said, describing how the waters rose rapidly, leaving the salon submerged before high tide.

Rachel and her team are unable to assess the full damage yet, but it’s clear that all their furniture and stock have been ruined. Unlike previous floods, where water receded quickly, the water has remained inside the premises and the salon is expected to be under water for at least two days.

Despite having an alternative location for clients, the impact on the business is huge. “The river could have been dredged and all of this could have been avoided,” Rachel added, calling for accountability from the government.

As the community begins to rebuild Rachel’s frustration is clear: “Who do you call? Who will take responsibility for this?”

Her plea for urgent flood prevention measures and government action is one that many in Enniscorthy share as the area faces yet another devastating flood crisis.
