44 children were admitted to adult mental health services in the first 5 months of the year.
That compares to 36 admissions for the same period in 2016. The Mental Health Commission says a possible reason for the increase is a reduced number of beds for Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services, due to a shortage of personnel. The commission says admitting children to adult services is completely unacceptable.
