Another Status Yellow Rain Warning For Wexford

A Status Yellow rain warning has been issued for Carlow, Dublin, Kildare, Kilkenny, Laois, Louth, Wexford, Monaghan and Tipperary.

From 03:00 AM on Thursday, 5th February to 03:00 AM on Friday, 6th February, further rainfall on already saturated ground, combined with high river levels and high tides, may cause:

  • Localised flooding

  • River flooding

  • Difficult travel conditions

It comes as Wexford County Council are warning of potential coastal flooding due to high spring tides and gale-force winds expected over the next 24 hours.

The River Slaney is already at high levels, raising concerns of wave overtopping, particularly around Wexford Harbour.

Local authorities are monitoring the situation, with high tide expected at 9:30 AM tomorrow.

In response, the council has set up temporary flood defenses, including sandbag walls and portable barriers.

Sandbags are available at Whitemill Depot between 11am and 4pm today but only for Residents and businesses in flood-prone areas

CEO of the council Eddie Taaffe said the bags are limited
