A proposal to build one of the countries biggest solar farms in County Wexford has been turned down by An Bord Pleanala.
The farm spanned more than 200 acres. Wexford County Council had previously refused planning permission for the solar farm which spans seven townlands in the Killinck Tomhaggard area. An Bord Pleanala upheld that decision, the application was lodged by Highfield Solar Limited a Dublin based solar farm development company. County Wexford has the highest rate of planning applications in the country for solar farms with Highfield Solar leading the way. Meanwhile another company which has been granted planning permission for a solar farm at Murntown by Wexford County Council has lodged an appeal against the decision due to the amount of development contributions being sought by the council. The company in question is Harmony Solar.
