Blackstairs Blues Festival Returns To Enniscorthy This Weekend

Ireland's longest running Blues festival returns to Enniscorthy this weekend.

The 33rd edition of the Blackstairs Blues Festival will be held in the town from Friday the 11th of September to Sunday evening, the 13th of September.

First established in 1995, musicians from all over Ireland and abroad descend on the town to celebrate music.

Blues Ireland says the festival will feature "a massive variety of styles, from intimate acoustic sessions and traditional Chicago blues to high-energy blues-rock performances hosted across local pubs, hotel stages, and community venues."

A number of fringe events will also be hosted in venues around the town with music planned for the Enniscorthy Library and the Athenaeum across the weekend.

The festival is proudly backed by the Enniscorthy Municipal District with the council providing 2,500 euro to help with the organising.

The event was one of 24 to be supported through the council thanks to the Arts Office Small Arts festival Fund and Fáilte Ireland Festival Scheme.

The official launch of the event was held in Holohan's Pub last month with the pub itself set to host a special Music Of Rory Gallagher evening on the opening Friday night.
