A man’s body has been recovered from the river Barrow in New Ross.
Emergency services were alerted to the incident at around 1.30 this afternoon. Gardaí, emergency services and Rescue helicopter 117 arrived at the scene and an operation got underway. The male was pronounced deceased at the scene and has been taken to University Hospital Waterford where a post mortem examination will take place in due course A statement from the Gardai said: "Gardaí and emergency services attended the scene of an incident in which the body of a male was removed from the river at New Ross, Co. Wexford, today, Monday 23rd October 2023, at approximately 1.35pm. The male was pronounced deceased at the scene and has been taken to University Hospital Waterford where a post mortem examination will take place in due course. Investigations are ongoing.
