COPD is Ireland's fourth biggest killer after heart disease, lung cancer and stroke. Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease better known as bronchitis or emphysema, is a progressive lung disease where the airways of the lungs are narrower than normal, leading to airflow obstruction and difficulty breathing. There are calls for spirometry testing to be made available in primary care as many people remain undiagnosed and untreated for the disease.
