Co. wexford's town councils to hold final meetings this month
All four will be abolished following the election of the expanded Wexford County Council on May 23rd. It's the end of an era for town Councillors who will sit in on their last ever meeting this month. After this months local elections the number of seats on Wexford County Council will increase from 21 to 34 with each district having an increased representation. However in the process the county's thirty nine town councillors will have no further local represenation, however many are seeking seats on the expanded Wexford County Council. There are thirteen extra seats on the council but that is only one third of all the seats that are being lost on the Town Councils. Wexford Borough Councillors has a history dating back centuries while Gorey Town Council was only created in recent years.
