Coastguard highlights the importance of lifejackets

More than half of those who needed the coast guard service in 2016 were not wearing lifejackets.

That's according to the end of year statement issued by the Department of Transport. It also showed that in relation to drownings, adult males continue to be the most vulnerable group. The statement paid tribute to Caitríona Lucas who was the first volunteer member of the Coast Guard to lose her life on operational service.
