Comiskey breaks silence over abuse scandal
The retired Bishop of Ferns, Brendan Comiskey, has broken his silence over the abuse scandal that eventually forced his resignation in 2006. Confronted on the street by Irish Independent reporter Paul Williams, the former Bishop expressed regret at the abusive priests in the diocese on his watch, and said he did his best to deal with the unfolding scandal but it wasn't good enough. The 79-year old resigned after a report into the Ferns abuse scandal said he'd shown an inappropriate and inadequate response when reports about abusive priests started to emerge.
