Cork fans have been criticised by the GAA for flying the confederate flag in support of the county team at Sunday's All Ireland semi-final against Waterford.
The Irish Examiner says the Cork County Board has outright condemned the flying of the flag. There was also outrage on social media after use of the flag due to its pro slavery connotations and insensitivity following violence by white supremacists in Charlottesville. Brian Killoran from the Immigrant Council of Ireland says people need to consider the history of the flag and stop using it.
